Buthidaung, Arakan (Rohingya Vision) — An attempt to gang-rape a Rohingya minor girl by Myanmar’s Military took place in Buthidaung Township on January 21, according to the local sources.
The incident happened as the 14-year-old girl identified to be ‘S’ (daughter of) ‘Mr. H’ hailed from Du-Oo-Thay-Ma village was on her way to receive her parents after the work in their farm in the evening of the day.

“A team of the military from Military Operations Command (MOC) in Buthidaung often patrols in the villages such as Shwe Hdaar and Nyaung Chaung. Unfortunately, the 14-year-old girl encountered three military personnel from the team on the way to receive her parents from the farm.
The military held the minor girl and started tearing off her clothes by force. The girl shouted in fear and for help. Some people nearby thronged for her rescue.
Hence, the three military personnel ran away leaving her behind” said a local Rohingya on the condition of anonymity.
The Myanmar (Burmese) military is notorious for raping girls/women of ethnic minorities all over the country as a war weapon. Likewise, countless Rohingya minor girls/women have been raped/gang- raped since the beginning of the violence in June 2012.
